About the Journal

The Silphium Journal of Science and Technology is a peer-reviewed, semi-annual scientific journal ( January - June) published by the Higher Institute of Science and Technology – Shahat. The journal focuses on publishing research and scientific studies in the following fields:

Journal Objectives
The journal is dedicated to publishing the results of research, studies, and articles conducted by or involving faculty members, researchers at universities, scientific institutes, research centers, and scientific research organizations in the fields of science and technology (and related fields).

Continuous development of publishing, review, and scientific exchange methods with local and international entities.
Contributing to improving the ranking of the Higher Institute of Science and Technology – Shahat among universities and higher institutes in Libya.
Competing with specialized international journals and achieving a distinguished position among them.

To publish scientific research according to regulated standards that preserve originality, methodology, and scientific values while supporting intellectual creativity.
To excel in presenting innovative research ideas that have not been previously published in other scientific journals, peer-reviewed by a select group of scholars and specialists, and to contribute to producing outstanding scientific papers. Our mission is achieved through adherence to international standards of excellence in scientific research fields.

Policies and Publication Ethics

Journal Policies

Originality and Quality

The journal accepts original, previously unpublished research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of science and technology.

Peer Review:

All submitted research undergoes rigorous scientific evaluation by specialized experts (Double-Blind Peer Review).

Open Access:

The journal adopts an Open Access policy to support the exchange of knowledge.

Copyright:

Authors retain their copyright while granting the journal the right of first publication.

Fees:

Publication fees are payable after the initial acceptance of the manuscript. (300 Libyan Dinars).

Citation Policies

Academic Referencing:

Adherence to the approved citation style (APA) is mandatory.

Plagiarism Prevention:

Plagiarism detection tools (e.g., Turnitin) are used to ensure the originality of the research.

Permissible Citation:

Sources must be accurately cited, and excessive, unjustified copying is prohibited.

Allowed Similarity Percentage:(25%)

Databases:

The journal is working towards indexing in local and international databases, such as:

* Google Scholar

* Crossref (DOI)

Publication Ethics

1. Authors' Ethics

Originality: Research must be submitted for the first time, without plagiarism or duplicate publication.

Integrity: Presenting accurate data without fabrication or manipulation (e.g., of images or results).

Source Attribution: Citing all references used, following a clear citation methodology.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Declaring any conflicts of interest (e.g., funding from an influential entity).

Ethical Approval: Obtaining ethical approval for experimental research involving human or animal subjects.

2. Reviewers' Ethics

Confidentiality: Not sharing the content of the research with any party before publication.

Impartiality: Evaluating based on scientific quality without bias.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Refraining from review if there is a relationship with the authors.

3. Editors' (Publisher's) Ethics

Transparency: Clarifying review and publication policies for all parties.

Fairness: Evaluating research regardless of the authors' identity or affiliations.

Data Protection: Maintaining the confidentiality of author and reviewer information.

Handling Violations: Retracting plagiarized or falsified research and notifying the academic community.

4. Handling Violations

Plagiarism: Using detection tools (e.g., Turnitin) and rejecting or retracting the manuscript if theft is proven.

Fabrication: Such as inventing false data.

Duplicate Submission: Publishing research in more than one journal without notification.

Conflict of Interest: Concealing relationships that may affect research outcomes.

5. Rights of Study Participants

 In medical or social research:

Obtaining written consent from participants.
Obtaining ethical approval for experimental research.
 Ensuring privacy and non-disclosure of their identities.

6. Funding Disclosure

Declaring funding sources and their role in the research (if any).
