Abstract

This paper aimed to study the reality of the application of total quality management (TQM) in basic education schools in the municipality of Shahat based on the opinions of basic education school principals and their assistants. To achieve this, the researchers used the descriptive approach due to its relevance to the nature of the study, and the data needed to conduct the study were collected by the questionnaire method in a personal interview for 68 principals and assistant principals of basic education schools out of 88, or 77.27%. The results of the study showed that the reality of the application of total quality management in basic education schools is at the good level, and there are no statistically significant differences due to gender, as well as no statistically significant differences due to the number of years of experience. Based on the results of the study, the researchers recommended the necessity of adopting total quality management in the education sector by adopting a strategic action plan aimed at spreading the culture and concepts of total quality in all educational institutions and providing the necessary support for its implementation, activating the role of the media in quality and its concepts and application in various educational institutions. Training school principals and their assistants on how to apply total quality management in their schools and consolidating the culture of quality as an organizational culture within the basics of school work, providing financial support that helps the school administration to implement quality management and encouraging and motivating schools that have a serious desire to implement total quality management in their schools.
