Pioneering experiences of some developing countries in sustainable tourism development strategies And the possibility of applying it to the municipality of Shahat - Libya

Abstract

The study touched diversity of the most important strategies followed in sustainable tourism development by presenting some of the experiences of developing countries that have proven their successes in sustainable tourism development by adopting development strategies, the study also touched on how to benefit from those experiences in designing a strategy for sustainable tourism development in the municipality of Shahat- study area -.

As well, the study pointed to the importance of the municipality-the subject of study - in sustainable tourism development. The researcher has relied on the inductive approach in the preparation of this study, so some results have been reached, the most important of which is that the strategies used in sustainable tourism development require difficult and complex choices, including political, economic, social and environmental, those countries have achieved their successes in sustainable tourism development have done so by taking a number of measures and applied policies and incentives privileges, and have achieved a flexible tourism infrastructure base that responds to the requirements of development.

The study recommended that Shahat municipality have the official status of sponsor of tourism development by virtue of the competencies, including Law No. 59 of 2012, in cooperation with stakeholders such as (private sector, Ministry of tourism, Department of Antiquities, Endowment Authority, Social Security Fund), where these parties collectively draw a clear vision of the form of development that the municipality should be, including financial financing programs, and solved the legal bottlenecks that could hinder the progress of the development plan of the municipality, while applying the rules of sustainability.
