Abstract

This research aims to identify the skills gap between university education outcomes in Libya and the labour market; it relied on the theoretical analytical style in order to identify the reality of that gap. In addition, the research found a weakness in the ability of university education to align its outputs with the requirements of the labour market; In terms of quantitative and qualitative match, including vertical-horizontal mismatch, this is due to the low production and competitive capabilities of graduates, and their inability to keep pace with the rapid scientific and technological developments. Moreover, this limited their ability to keep pace with the developments and changes that occur in the labour market. Also those graduates lack several basic skills such as: cognitive skills, research, investigation skills, self-management skills, problem-solving, decision-making skills, information, communication technology skills, computational, quantitative skills, teamwork skills, project management skills, interpersonal skills and time management skills.
